DNS Configuration

Using DNS In UNIQCloud

Using Public DNS servers.

  1. Needs to be explicit configured in subnets or workloads

  2. Intended to be used along with provider-external network.

  3. Currently only 1.0.0.2 is allowed by default.

UNIQCloud Designate servers

  1. Designate server are not public and cannot be configured to resolve public dns registries.

  2. Intended to be used along with provider-external network.

  3. Configured by default if no other DNS is provided.

  4. The scope of the entries are uniqcloud wide. Once an entry is created, all workloads in the uniqcloud will be able to resolve that entry.

  5. Neutron specifies the dns_domain of instance.eu-vlc.uniccloud.org internally for itself. Neutron also integrates with Designate, which provides its own DNS server. Any instance can be resolved internally in the cloud.

  6. Instances uses also designate in order to communicate to resolve api.eu-vlc.uniccloud.org entries (Openstack APIs) in case any workload needs to interact with Openstack.

  7. Designate points forwards to UNICC internal DNS which will forward to internet in needed.
